Anything With Lights: Nissan GT-R Pace Car

pacecar2 Anything With Lights: Nissan GT R Pace Car

Nissan’s mighty GT-R has signed on for pace-car duty once again. Godzilla will lead the pack during the 2009 Australian V8 Supercar Championship Series beginning on March 14. Modifications to the car are pretty simple – sticking mostly to decals and high-visibility strobes and leaving the mechanical wizardry under the hood alone. Nissan offered its supercar up for caution detail to build awareness in the land down under, but a spokesperson with the company let slip another interesting tidbit that’s worth listening to. Turns out Nissan Chief Test Driver Toshio Suzuki will head back to Nurburgring with a 2009 GT-R to try to best his 7 minute, 29 second lap time. It’s about time the Porsche/Nissan fires were stoked. Full release after the jump.

From the article: “Sorry, Ford. Your by-default reign over the American musclecar party is about to come to an end. This is clear the instant we climb aboard a final engineering prototype of the Challenger SRT8, fire its 425-horse Hemi V-8, and plant our right foot hard to the mat. The engine screams to over 6000 rpm, the rectangular exhaust outlets bellow, and the Big Bad Dodge’s husky butt fishtails in response, just like the good old days. Better, in fact.”

Italdesign to reveal speedy but penny-wise hybrid car at Geneva motor show

Italdesign Hybrid Race Car

Italdesign Giugiaro will reveal its latest concept of a speedy but fuel-efficient hybrid car at the Geneva motor show.

Italdesign-Giugiaro S.p.a , commonly called Italdesign, is a famous automobile designer and is a highly-specialized engineering company that is located in Turin, Italy.

It was founded in the year 1968 with its first name as Studi Italiani Realizzazione Prototipi S.p.A that worked in collaboration with the Volkswagen. At present, the company is recognized for the famous works of its subordinate, the Giugiaro Design, the home of the renowned car designer Giorgetto Guigiaro.

Today, with their innovative concept, Italdesign revealed that the hybrid coupe is a two-seater and can achieve a top speed on the road at 186 miles per hour, or 300 kilometers per hour. It can also be accelerated from an amazing zero to 62 miles per hour in less than 4 seconds.

Italdesign remained the concept anonymous until the Geneva motor show. As mentioned, the car manufacturer guarantees a fast and furious design on the coupe, but will be an ideal partner for fuel efficiency. The unnamed car can travel 117 miles per hour on a gallon of gasoline.

If you are interested with the car’s technical information, as to engine configuration and other revving mechanisms, you have to wait for its launching on Geneva.

According also to Italdesign, this coupe is shaped like a wedge, and is wrapped fully with aluminum and carbon, with its chassis covered with carbon fiber.
